600 Miles
03:51
|
|||
Watching miles rolling over through my dash
600 more to go
Going somewhere where there ain’t no ice or sleet or snow
Can you help me, can you help me find my way?
West Virginia hills broke me down and want me to stay
It’s been a long time since I’ve been away
I’m saying my goodbye’s I’ll be back someday
Thanks for the “good lucks”s I’ll lace my boots
I’ll tell you the places they take me to
Oh God, where have I been?
Ol' Pearl broke down again
It’s been a long time since I’ve been away
I’m saying my goodbye’s I’ll be back someday
Thanks for the “good lucks”s I’ll lace my boots
I’ll tell you the places they take me to
I don’t know of a place or anything I see as beautiful to me
As the open road ahead and the wheels beneath my feet
As I pass you hear me sing...
It’s been a long time since I’ve been away
I’m saying my goodbye’s I’ll be back someday
Thanks for the “good lucks”s I’ll lace my boots
I’ll tell you the places they take me to

Move On
03:47
|
|||
Every time you walk out through your door
You give yourself a pep-talk in the mirror
Put your makeup on and do your hair
You got a push button to start your car
Every time I walk out through my door
I splash my face with cold water
And tuck my hair behind my ear
Could this car get any louder?
Do you need another metaphor?
I’d write a dozen but what for?
It’s black and white we’re high contrast
Head over heels I fall so fast
Turn back ‘cause she is not your type her eyes will
Bat so fast that you don’t realize her smile is
Strained insane is when you’ve tried and tried I’ve tried but
Just got schooled by Albert Einstein It’s time to move on
You were raised in suburban streets
I was raised up in the trees
It’s a classic story it’s a common tale
A country boy meets a city girl
But all these details that you see past
Become opaque when I ask
Turn back ‘cause she is not your type her eyes will
Bat so fast that you don’t realize her smile is
Strained insane is when you’ve tried and tried I’ve tried but
Just got schooled by Albert Einstein It’s time to move on
To move on
To move on
I’ve got to move on
I'm moving on

Jaded
05:02
|
|||
Three years on the run
And I still flinch at the point of a gun
I can’t make a move
‘Cause I don’t have the time for heartbreak
The pressure’s closing in
And if I’s you I’d wonder what I’m thinking
So here it is sweet babe
Here’s the words I’d say
I’m jaded frustrated at the moon
‘Cause it don’t shine as bright as you do
And lately you’ve been waning like the moon
With eyes like that you’re bound to come through
Now I’m lost at sea (sick, honey)
Now I can’t see past my heart beat
It’s just you and me
Now it is just me
You said you take this stuff kind of seriously
But that’s fine by me, that’s fine by me
I’m jaded frustrated at the moon
‘Cause it don’t shine as bright as you do
And lately you’ve been waning like the moon
With eyes like that you’re bound to come through
And I can’t keep pretending, honey
The moons got all I need
Cause when I look in your eyes, baby
They're twice as bright to me
I’m jaded frustrated at the moon
‘Cause it don’t shine as bright as you do
And lately you’ve been waning like the moon
With eyes like that you’re bound to come through
Bound to be true
Bound to consume

Dancefloor

Check the bottom of your boot is there a name down there?
It’s faded but there's letters painted onto the leather
I’ve got a string tied to my back and a snake in my boot
This plastic face can’t recall who the hell he belongs to
Why do I desire more?
I’ve got a young man’s face but I don’t feel so young no more
Like Peter Pan grew up it’s an anomaly to the core
I’ve got my hands and feet tied up just like a puppeteer
So cut me loose and set me out onto that dance floor
Kicking steel into my horse and he will giddy-up
And I will kick myself if I ever start giving up
I took a cold punch to the jaw and now I’m spitting blood
I never knew a cotton heart could ever be so hard
Why do I desire more?
I’ve got a young man’s face but I don’t feel so young no more
Like Peter Pan grew up it’s an anomaly to the core
I’ve got my hands and feet tied up just like a puppeteer
So cut me loose and set me out onto that dance floor
It’s all I need
It’s all I need
To be set free
I've got to be
I’ve got a young man’s face but I don’t feel so young no more
Like Peter Pan grew up it’s an anomaly to the core
I’ve got my hands and feet tied up just like a puppeteer
So cut me loose and set me out onto that dance floor

Sea Star
05:58
|
|||
You float up to a small door on the sandy sea floor
Float in you've been here before
A mom-pop shop sells books and pens
And vanity mirrors you can
Look in when you're not sure you're a star
On the shore a golden haired girl rides on a golden tiger
Reminds you of a time long before
Of when your soul was happy and free
Called once "happy-go-lucky"
But looking in the mirror you see five arms
And supposedly that means you're a star
But you're not so confident that you are
So you wear a name tag that reads "above par"
But watching an old cartoon
And smelling your mom's perfume
And spinning your old man's tunes
You recall a phrase you once knew
Something along the lines that
You aren't sure you're a star
But those five arms confirm that you are
So you throw that mirror out it washes on shore
And that golden haired girl checks off one more
